It’s another late-night and I am writing a post for this thing I have started.
Over the last 3 months we have been able to publish at least one quality article a week, and that is coming from volunteers who have their own lives and publications to attend to.
It hasn’t been easy. It also hasn’t been that hard. Many of our published articles have been copy-paste posts. But, as it is with things, many submissions have been really good, yet needed a little tough, here-and-there, to be the best they could be. And that takes time.
Recently, I was sent a stellar post. It was well thought out and beautifully written. I had to send it back. There was a lot more that could have been expanded on. The content was too good to not take the time to make a fuller, more in-depth article. And that is a challenge. How do we most effectively curate? How can we consistently produce the highest quality posts we can without sacrificing too much Time, Energy, Resources?
I’m unsure.
So, that leads to the next step: reassessment.
Correspondence Theory will be taking a hiatus for the month of December. We will use this time to get caught up on editing posts, discussing the future, and taking some much needed IRL time with friends and family. All are important.
Recently I was talking with
, and I said the word “balance” for what I thought I needed to work on, spinning all these plates isn’t easy. He told me that he prefers the word “harmony.” I think that is the proper word.If this publication is to succeed, then it can’t be a series of readjustments in a reactionary state. It needs to be something that changes to suit conditions and works with all the participant’s lifestyle. It’s not a call-and-response melody. It’s jazz. It has to be able to improvise while having fun and doing good work.
There’s much to take care of on the back end. (puns always intended)
What will next year bring? I’m unsure. I hope we can keep a decent pace of interesting articles and maybe more. I hope that we can publish content that withstands the ravages of time, being more than just ephemora in the internet winds of attention.
I do know that we will keep working. “and that is an encouraging thought.” - GtG
If there is a gift we can give during the holiday season, it is the gift of learning. Garner some curiousity, have honest conversations, enjoy the time you have with friends and family.
We’ll be back in the new year.
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
Happy Holidays.
Cheers,
Jeff
